  • Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Recognition

    The Intercollegiate Tennis Association recently announced its All-Academic Teams as well as its Scholar Athletes for the 2012-13 season. Six members of the Lyons squad were named Scholar-Athletes. In addition, the program picked up All-Academic Team accolades.

    It was an exciting 2012-13 season for the Mount Holyoke tennis team, which qualified for the NEWMAC Tournament for the ninth straight year and finished third at the Seven Sisters Championship behind a number of outstanding performances. Under the direction of 19th-year head coach Aldo Santiago, the Lyons posted an 11-9 overall record and tied for third in the NEWMAC with a 4-3 mark.
  • Tennis Downs Roger Williams, 6-3 on Senior Day!

    Powered by victories in four of six singles and a pair of doubles wins, the Mount Holyoke College tennis team defeated Roger Williams by a 6-3 margin in the 2012-13 season finale. The Lyons conclude their season with an 11-9 mark, while the Hawks - who play at Smith at 2:30pm to finish their year - move to 10-9 overall.
  • Tennis Wraps-up Action at Seven Sisters Championship

    The Mount Holyoke College tennis team concluded action at the 2013 Seven Sisters Championship on Sunday at Vassar College. The Lyons fell in the morning opener against the host Brewers by a 5-0 margin before defeating NEWMAC-rival Smith by a score of 5-0. Today's action moved MHC to 10-9 on the season with one match left to their 2012-13 schedule.
  • Tennis Splits Opening Day at Seven Sisters Championship

    The Mount Holyoke College tennis team opened competition at the 2013 Seven Sisters Championship today, posting a 4-1 victory over Bryn Mawr College, but falling by the same margin to Wellesley College during the morning action. The Lyons are now 9-8 on the season after day one.
  • Tennis Splits Saturday Action Against Camels and Engineers

    The Mount Holyoke College tennis team split action on Saturday, posting a 5-4 victory over Connecticut College before falling to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) by a 7-2 margin. The Lyons move to 8-7 on the season. The Camels are now 2-5, while the Engineers - who are ranked 19th regionally - are now 8-3 overall.
  • Tennis Takes Two in Spring Home Opener

    Powered by a critical first singles win by senior Nahrhee Han, the Mount Holyoke College tennis team defeated Endicott College by a 5-4 margin and went on to post a 9-0 victory over Lesley University in the afternoon match. With the victory, the Lyons improve to 7-6 on the season, while the Gulls and the Lynx fall to 14-3 and 0-14, respectively.
  • Tennis Shoulders 7-2 Loss at #28 Bates to Open Spring Schedule

    The Mount Holyoke College tennis team kicked off the spring portion of its 2012-13 schedule on Saturday at Bates College. Despite a pair of strong singles performances, the Lyons were unable to solve the Bobcats, falling by a 7-2 margin. MHC slips to 5-6 overall, while 28th-ranked Bates moves to 2-2 on the year.
  • Holloschutz Garners Year-End NEWMAC Tennis Honors

    The NEWMAC recently announced its women's tennis award winners for the 2012 season and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Margaux Holloschutz was among this year’s honorees. A first year, she posted an 8-1 record in singles action this season, while also going 8-2 overall in doubles action for the Lyons.
  • Tennis Falls Short at Wheaton in NEWMAC First Round

    The fourth-seeded Wheaton College women's tennis team notched a 5-1 victory over fifth-seed Mount Holyoke College during Wednesday's opening round of the NEWMAC Tournament on the Clark Tennis Courts. The victory moved the host Lyons to 8-3 overall, while MHC closed out its fall season with a 5-5 record.
  • Tennis Falls to Babson in NEWMAC Regular Season Finale

    Babson College swept all three doubles matches and powered its way to wins in five of six singles for an 8-1 victory over Mount Holyoke College on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Beavers move to 7-3 overall and 4-3 in conference play. The Lyons slip to 5-4 on the season with a 4-3 record in the NEWMAC.

    The Lyons take to the court for their final NEWMAC regular season home contest against the Beavers of Babson College. Saturday’s match marks the 27th all-time meeting between the two schools. Both teams have secured a spot in the upcoming NEWMAC Tournament, but seeding is still to be determined based on the outcome of Saturday’s matches.
  • Tennis Posts Key NEWMAC Win at Springfield, 7-2

    The Mount Holyoke women's tennis team defeated its counterparts from Springfield College, 7-2, thus spoiling Senior Night for the Pride in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference match-up at SC's Julius Appleton Courts. With the win, the Lyons' record is elevated to 5-3 overall and 4-2 in the NEWMAC. Springfield falls to 5-4 overall and 2-4 in the conference.
  • Nahrhee Han Earns Lyon of the Week Honors

    Senior Nahrhee Han has been selected as the Lyon of the Week Award recipient for October 8-14. A captain on the tennis team, Han posted a 2-1 record in both singles and doubles action, while also being named the recipient of a prestigious honor.

    Mount Holyoke College saw its run at the 2012 New England Collegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT) come to a close on Saturday as the three remaining Lyons teams in Round Two bowed out. MHC had a number of solid efforts throughout the weekend, including the first-ever time that three teams advanced to the second round of play.

    Day one of action at the 2012 New England Collegiate Tennis Tournament, hosted by Mount Holyoke and Smith Colleges, has concluded. Through the opening round, the Lyons tennis team has seen a number of student-athletes move on to the Second Round, including MHC's first, third and fourth teams.
  • Nahrhee Han Honored With Prestigious Morehouse Award

    Action at the 2012 New England Collegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT) kicked off on Friday afternoon at Mount Holyoke and Smith Colleges. The tournament started with a special ceremony as Lyons senior Nahrhee Han was named the 2012 recipient of the prestigious Lindsay Morehouse Award, which is presented each year at NEWITT.

    The Mount Holyoke College tennis team claimed victory in all three doubles matches and went on to post wins in each of the six singles for a 9-0 victory over Smith College in NEWMAC action on Tuesday evening. With the victory, the Lyons move to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The Pioneers slip to 0-5 on the season and in the NEWMAC.

    THE MATCHUP: The Lyons are back on their home court on Tuesday, taking on area and league-rival, Smith College. The match marks the 66th all-time meeting between the two schools since the rivalry first began in 1977. The Pioneers own the series advantage with a 41-24-0 margin, but the Lyons have been successful as of late with wins in each of the last five contests.

    The Wellesley College tennis team edged NEWMAC-rival Mount Holyoke, 5-4, on Saturday afternoon in Wellesley. The Blue used strong singles play to improve to 4-2 overall, 3-1 in conference play. The Lyons, meanwhile, fall to 3-3, 2-2 in the NEWMAC.
  • Tennis Battles Back to Defeat Clark, 6-3

    The Mount Holyoke College tennis team battled back from a 2-1 deficit after doubles action to win five of six singles and claim a 6-3 win over Clark University in a NEWMAC match at the MHC Field House. With the victory, the Lyons move to 3-2 on the season with a 2-1 mark in conference play, while the Cougars slip to 5-6 overall and 0-3 in the NEWMAC.

    The MIT women's tennis team]kept its NEWMAC record perfect at 2-0 with an 8-1 win over Mount Holyoke College on the DuPont/Katz Tennis Courts. Senior Candace Wu (Yorba Linda, Calif.) scored the match-clinching win for MIT with a straight sets victory at No. 3 singles.

    A close battle throughout came down to the final singles match as junior Eman Malik notched a third set victory in the fourth flight to lift the Mount Holyoke College tennis team to a 5-4 victory over Wheaton College on Saturday at MHC Tennis Courts. It marked the first NEWMAC contest of the season for either team, which saw the homestanding Lyons move to 2-1 on the season, while the visiting Lyons are also now 2-1.

    Junior AnnElizabeth Konkel and senior Nahrhee Han garnered NEWMAC honors for the week ending September 2nd after leading the Mount Holyoke Tennis team to a 9-0 sweep of the University of St. Joseph last week. Konkel was named the conference’s singles Player of the Week and along with Han, earned top Doubles Team of the Week recognition.

    The Mount Holyoke College tennis team kicked off its 2012-13 campaign with a convincing 9-0 victory over the University of St. Joseph this morning at the Mount Holyoke Tennis Courts. With the win, the Lyons remained perfect in eight all-time meetings against the Blue Jays.
  • Tennis Garners ITA National Academic Honors

    The ITA recently announced its All-Academic Teams as well as its Scholar Athletes for the 2011-12 season. Six members of the Lyons squad were named Scholar Athletes. In addition, the program picked up All-Academic Team accolades. As a team, the Lyons were recognized for the ninth straight season after posting a grade point average of 3.39. In total, it was the 10th time in the last 11 years that the team has earned All-Academic honors.
