SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Sept. 3, 2012) – Junior AnnElizabeth Konkel and senior Nahrhee Han garnered NEWMAC honors for the week ending September 2nd after leading the Mount Holyoke Tennis team to a 9-0 sweep of the University of St. Joseph last week. Konkel was named the conference's singles Player of the Week and along with Han, earned top Doubles Team of the Week recognition.

Konkel (Camp Hill, Pa./Harrisburg Academy) was one of five singles players to sweep in straight sets, posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the second flight. A junior, she started off the day alongside Han (Albertson, N.Y./Herricks) as the duo posted an 8-0 score to win first doubles.

Last season, Konkel posted a 9-8 overall record in singles action, including a 4-3 mark in NEWMAC play. She was 1-1 in the third flight, 3-1 at fourth and 5-4 in fifth flight singles. In doubles, Konkel went 9-9 on the season with Han, including 9-6 in first flight.

The Lyons (1-0; 0-0 NEWMAC) return to the court on Monday when they face Simmons College at the MHC Tennis Courts at 4:30pm. The squad will then open NEWMAC play on Saturday, September 15 versus Wheaton College at 1pm.
