Women's Tennis Sweeps St. Joseph, 9-0 in Season Opener

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Sept. 1, 2012) – The Mount Holyoke College tennis team kicked off its 2012-13 campaign with a convincing 9-0 victory over the University of St. Joseph this morning at the Mount Holyoke Tennis Courts. The Lyons were dominant on the day, dropping just three games over six singles victories and three doubles matches.  Nahrhee Han, AnnElizabeth Konkel, Sarah Anischik, Eman Malik, Maya Sayarath and Margaux Holloschutz each recorded victories at singles, while Kelsey Brower, Jenni Lee and My-Linh Nguyen chipped in to help the doubles teams sweep.

The Lyons swept the three double matches to gain an early advantage as all three teams posted 8-0 victories, including Han and Konkel in the first flight, Brower and Lee in the second and Nguyen and Holloschutz in the third flight.

Mount Holyoke proceeded to win all six singles contests in dominant fashion. From top to bottom, the lineup featured Han, Konkel, Anischik, Malik, Sayarath and Holloschutz.

The Lyons (1-0, 0-0 NEWMAC) return to action on Monday when they host Simmons at Mount Holyoke Tennis Courts at 4:30pm. St. Joseph hosts Bay Path College on Wednesday at 4pm.
