SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Oct. 31, 2012) – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its women's tennis award winners for the 2012 season and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Margaux Holloschutz was among this year's honorees.
A first year out of Franklin Lakes, N.J., Holloschutz was named to the All-Conference Second Team at singles for her outstanding efforts in her collegiate debut. She went 8-1 in sixth flight singles this season with her only loss coming against Wellesley. In conference action, Holloschutz was 6-1 overall.
Holloschutz also excelled in doubles action in 2012, posting an 8-2 record with partner, senior My-Linh Nguyen (Potomac, Md./Richard Montgomery). The pair also posted a 5-2 record in NEWMAC play; their only losses coming against MIT – the 2012 NEWMAC Tournament champions – and Babson.
Prior to her arrival at Mount Holyoke, Holloschutz was a member of the varsity tennis team at Saddle River Day School. In addition to garnering All-League First Team honors twice, she was also a Bergen County Tournament Semifinalist in each of her last three years.
Holloschutz helped the Lyons close out their fall schedule with a 5-5 record. The team also went 4-3 against NEWMAC-foes to finish in a three-way tie for third in the final standings.
