Lyon of the Week Award Goes to Shara Robertson

Shara Robertson Junior field hockey player Shara Robertson has earned the Lyon of the Week award for the week of September 13-19. The forward racked up four goals and one assist in a 1-1 week for Mount Holyoke.

Robertson figured in on all four goals in her team's 4-0 triumph over Smith College on Friday. In addition to posting her second hat trick of the season, she was also credited with an assist. Over her outstanding career, Robertson has recorded three goals or more on four occasions.

Her most dramatic goal of the week came in a heartbreaking 3-2 overtime setback against Wesleyan University on Wednesday. With the Lyons trailing 2-1 and the clock expired, she found the back of the cage off of a penalty corner set to send things to overtime.

Thus far this season, Robertson has amassed seven goals and one assist. For her career, she has totaled 65 points on 30 goals and five assists. Eight of her tallies have gone down as match winners.

In addition to earning Lyon of the Week accolades, Robertson was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week. No stranger to NEWMAC accolades, Robertson earned Second Team All-Conference honors last fall after securing the league's Rookie of the Year award in 2008. She was also named to the NFHCA Division III New England East Second Team last year.

Mount Holyoke (3-1, 1-0 NEWMAC) will return to action this evening, when it visits Western New England College for a non-conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
