CANTON, N.Y. -- Mount Holyoke College senior Lauren Selkin finished ninth overall to claim All-Region honors and qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships for the second straight year, leading the Lyons to 11th place out of 21 teams at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships Saturday at St. Lawrence University.

After Selkin (Greenwich, Conn.), a competitive pack of Mount Holyoke runners came in among the top 94 of 159 individuals overall, helping the Lyons finish between Connecticut College (251) and Westfield State (358) in the middle of the team standings. Williams won the team title with 47 points.

Selkin was ninth out of 159 individuals to cross the finish line, running the rain-drenched 6-kilometer course in 22:51.9. The top 35 individuals receive All-Region honors, so Selkin becomes a two-time All-Region performer after finishing fourth a year ago.

Sophomore Tessa Lancaster (Mansfield, Mass.) followed with a 69th-place finish, in 25:10.0, while junior Bridget Hall (Arlington, Mass.) came in 76th (25:28.3), both capping impressive seasons marked by continued improvement.

Sophomore Greta Trapp (La Crosse, Wis.) finished fourth for Mount Holyoke and 85th overall in 25:51.5, and sophomore Olivia Johnson (Mount Desert, Maine) completed the team scoring in 93rd place (26:11.5). Sophomore Kim Beaver (Agawam, Mass.) was right behind Johnson in 94th place (26:13.3), and senior Devan Ravino (West Kingston, R.I.) was Mount Holyoke's second displacer in 108th place overall (27:03.9).

Selkin, who became the cross country program's first NCAA Championship competitor in 2021, will return to nationals next Saturday, Nov. 19 in East Lansing, Mich., and again reach for NCAA All-America honors. The top 40 individuals will be named All-Americans. Selkin placed 48th among 292 individuals at 2021 nationals in Louisville, Ky.
