South Hadley, Mass. - November 15, 2021 - Standout junior Lauren Selkin (Greenwich, Conn.) of the Mount Holyoke College cross country team has been selected to compete at the 2021 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships, which will be hosted at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. on Saturday, November 20. Selkin is the first-ever student-athlete from Mount Holyoke College to qualify for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.

In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals had to qualify in their respective NCAA regional competitions that was held this past weekend. Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in each championship. Seventy individuals, the first seven student-athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team, were selected to participate in each championship.

Selkin punched her ticket to Louisville this past Saturday at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championship, as the Neuroscience and Behavior major notched a fourth-place finish with a time 22:00.7. Selkin's fourth-place finish was the highest-ever individual finish for a Mount Holyoke student-athlete at an NCAA Division III Regional Championship. Selkin, who earned All-Region accolades for finishing within the Top 35, also helped lead the Lyons to a program-best fifth-place finish as a team, besting their seventh-place finish from the 2019 season.

Selkin was one of seven student-athletes that qualified as individuals from Region II. Joining Selkin is Nia Goddard from RPI, Amy O'Sullivan from Westfield State, Miranda Graves from Wesleyan, Julia Curran from Connecticut College and Sasha Allison and Augusta Stockman from Vassar.
