Selkin Collects NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week Honors For Second Time

South Hadley, Mass. - September 27, 2021 - Standout junior Lauren Selkin (Greenwich, Conn.) of the Mount Holyoke College cross country team has been selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, announced by the conference offices on Monday. This marks the second time this season that Selkin, the 2019 NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Year, has collected this weekly honor.

In a meet featuring five nationally-ranked Division III women's cross country programs on Saturday, Selkin posted a fifth-place finish as the Neuroscience and Behavior major used a 6:18 mile pace to clock in a time of 23:26.4 on the 6k course. Selkin, who helped pace the Lyons to a seventh-place finish at the Purple Valley Classic, was the top-performing NEWMAC student-athlete in the race, and defeated student-athletes from sixth-ranked MIT, No. 8 Williams, No. 11 Tufts, No. 13 Middlebury and No. 25 WPI.

Up next, Selkin and the Lyons will compete in the James Earley Invitational, hosted at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass. on Saturday, October 9.
