Selkin Collects Third NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Weekly Honor

South Hadley, Mass. - October 12, 2021 - For the third time this season, Mount Holyoke College's Lauren Selkin (Greenwich, Conn.) of the cross country team has been selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Selkin, who is being recognized for her efforts at the James Earley Invitational this past weekend, was also named the NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week following performances at the Wellesley Invitational on September 3 and the Purple Valley Classic on September 25.

A Neuroscience and Behavior major at Mount Holyoke College, Selkin won her second meet of the season at the James Earley Invitational this past weekend. The Greenwich, Conn. product clocked a 18:02.2 and beat the field of 179 student-athletes by 16 seconds on the 5k course. Selkin's performance helped lead the Lyons to a second-place finish among 24 teams competing in the varsity race.

Up next, Selkin and the Mount Holyoke College cross country team will focus on the Connecticut College Invitational, hosted at Harkness State Park in Waterford, Conn. on Saturday, October 16.
