Selkin Tabbed NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

South Hadley, Mass. - September 7, 2021 - Standout junior Lauren Selkin (Greenwich, Conn.) of the Mount Holyoke College cross country team was recognized for her impressive performance to open the season as she was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.

The junior had an impressive meet and took first overall at the Wellesley College Invitational hosted at Nehoiden Golf Club on Friday evening. The Neuroscience and Behavior major clocked a time of 18:30.4 on the 5k course which was a 42-second PR and resulted in her first collegiate victory for the Lyons. Selkin averaged a 5:57.4 mile and paced Mount Holyoke College to a fourth-place finish.

Selkin and the Lyons return to action on Saturday, September 18 when they travel to North Dartmouth, Mass. for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. The race is set to begin at 12 p.m.
