Volleyball Posts 3-0 Victory at Elms

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Senior Martina Kneifel's match-high nine kill effort paced the Mount Holyoke College volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-14) victory at Elms College on Wednesday at Picknelly Arena. With the loss, Elms moves to 6-18 overall and Mount Holyoke improves to 10-13 overall.

Mount Holyoke used seven kills from Emma Sweeting (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) and five kills from Kristina Weld (Warwick, Mass.) to help pace the Lyons behind the nine off the bench from Kneifel.

Natalie Lyon (Oakton, Va.) paced the attack with 28 assists, while Weld helped in the serving game with five of the team's 13 service aces. Athena Donta (Hadley, Mass.) and Susannah Gardiner (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.) added seven digs each in the match, while Kneifel and Sweeting contributed five each.

The Blazers received a 10-assist effort from sophomore setter Shannon Bolton (Shelton, Conn.), while junior libero Caitlyn Larvey (Greenfield, Mass.) dug a match-best nine balls in defeat. Bolton added seven digs, while Christine Searles and J.C. Pickett chipped in with five kills and five digs apiece.

Elms will host Mitchell College in conference action on Saturday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m. to close out its regular season. Mount Holyoke returns to action this weekend when it hosts the Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament, beginning Friday at 5pm against Westfield State.
