Track and Field Finishes Tenth At Aloha Relays

Brunswick, Maine - The Mount Holyoke College track & field team was in action on Saturday, competing at the 2017 Aloha Relays, hosted by Bowdoin College. The Lyons finished tenth overall on the day, highlighted by three top-six finishes.

First year Emma Raney (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) saw Mount Holyoke's top performance in the steeplechase, earning a third place finish with a time of 13:03:44.

In the 400-meter dash, first year Minerva Veeser-Bobea (Arlington, Mass./Arlington)placed sixth with a time of 1:04:95, while first year Alicia Moroyoqui (Groton, Conn./Robert E. Fitch) was right behind  in seventh with a time of 1:06:06. Classmate Caitlin Lynch placed first in her heat and 14th overall in the 200m dash in a time of 29:41, while Junior Julia Criscione (Bernardsville, N.J./Villa Walsh Academy) ran in the 800m, and finished in a time of 2:47:06, good for 18th place.

Rounding out the sprints was Moroyoqui, sophomore Corrin Moss (Columbus, Ohio/Columbus Alternative School), classmate Emsie Cronin (Ledyard, Conn./Ledyard) and first year Michelle Serrano (Los Angeles, Calif./West Adams Preparatory), who placed fifth in the 4x8 with a time of 10:43:92.

Transitioning to distance, junior Mia Barnes (Thornville, Ohio/Monteverde Friends School) placed sixth in a time of 18:54:16, followed by Moss, who was 12th in the mile run with a 5:15:63 time.  

In the field events, sophomore Julia Hecking (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) had a solid performance, placing ninth in both the Discus and the Hammer throw, with 26.01m and 35.21m distances respectively.

Mount Holyoke will be back in action next Saturday at the NEWMAC Championships hosted by MIT. Action will begin at 11:00am.
