Donari Yahzid Competes In DIII Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore Donari Yahzid had a solid performance on Saturday, competing in the finals of the New England Division III Championships, hosted by MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Yahzid (Atlanta, Ga./Fountain Valley School of Colorado) placed 16th in the long jump finals after jumping a distance of 4.97 meters. She topped her first recorded jump of 4.94m in the effort.

Yahzid had three jumps this year that were qualifying marks. She started the season in solid fashion as she jumped a distance of 5.05m in the Smith Winter Classic. Yahzid topped her effort with a career-best 5.15m one jump later, which was good for a third place finish.

She continued to place third in the Pioneer Invitational with a jump of 4.90, while upping her performance in the Springfield College Massasoit Invitational by jumping 5.00m, which earned a first place finish.

She also finished in the Wesleyan University Invitational and jumped 4.94m, followed by a jump of 4.97m in the Gordon Kelly Invite, earning a fourth place finish.
