Tennis Falls to Smith, 6-3, in NEWMAC Play

South Hadley, Mass. - April 12, 2022 - The Mount Holyoke College tennis team fell to local-foe Smith College, 6-3, at Smith's Outdoor Tennis Courts on Tuesday evening. With the loss, the Lyons fall to 2-6 overall with a 1-2 mark in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), while Smith is now 4-5 on the year with a 1-3 mark in league play.

First-year Annika Chai (London, England) continued her impressive play this year and bested Lili Goshgarian 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Shweta Kiran Cavale (Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India) delivered a 2-6, 7-6 (3), 10-7 win at No. 2 singles. Annissa Aamoum (Dulles, Va.) also picked up a win for the Lyons at No. 3 singles, as the senior defeated Ashley Felix 7-5, 6-4.

Mount Holyoke College will now gear up for a battle with No. 6 MIT on Saturday, April 16 at 12 p.m.
