Tennis Competes at ITA Northeast Regional Championships

Brunswick, Maine - October 2, 2021 - Four Mount Holyoke College tennis student-athletes competed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Championships this past weekend, as the Lyons took on some of the region's top talent during the tournament hosted by Bowdoin College.

In doubles play on Friday, Annissa Aamoum (Dulles, Va.) and Vy Hoang (Youngstown, Ohio) competed against Wesleyan's Serim Jin and Caitlyn Goldberg and dropped an 8-1 decision.

The Lyons had two competing in the Round of 64 "A" Draw singles play including Shweta Kiran Cavale (Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India) and Annika Chai (London, England). Cavale fell to Katie Fleishmann of Wesleyan, 6-1, 6-0, while Chai dropped her match to Brinlea LaBarge of Middlebury, 6-1, 6-1.

In the Round of 64 "B" Draw singles play on Friday, Hoang took on Julia Pham of Williams and fell 8-1. Aamoum, who recieved a bye in the Round of 64, squared off with Lindsey Hernandez of Colby in the Round of 32 and dropped an 8-2 decision.

The Lyons will now turn their attention to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT), which will be hosted by Smith College beginning on Friday, October 8.
