South Hadley, Mass. - January 30, 2022 - The Mount Holyoke College squash team defeated Bard College 7-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Lyons improve to a record of 3-6 with the win while the Raptors fall to 0-4.

Entered at No. 1, sophomore Xaria Durocher (Boston, Mass.) triumped 3-0 (11-6, 11-4, 11-2) against Pam Jaramillo. At No. 2, senior Giselle Cabrera (Bronx, N.Y.) won an exciting four-game match, 5-11, 11-5, 11-2, 11-7, over Jackie Lerman.

At No. 3 senior Melissa Marquez (Waterbury, Conn.) posted a 3-0 (11-5, 11-4, 11-4) win against Thenuri De Silva, while in the fourth slot junior Elba Barra Montgomery (Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania) beat Ophelia Wang 3-0 (11-9, 11-2, 11-9). First-year Paige Gershuny (Cape Girardeau, Mo.) prevailed 3-0 (11-5, 11-5, 11-5) over Jacinta Creel at No. 5, while at No. 6, senior Elena Frogameni (Northampton, Mass.) notched a 11-9, 11-4, 11-2 win against Cameron Orr. 

The Raptors had to default the seventh slot as the Lyons emerged with the 7-0 victory.

Up next, the Lyons will face off with Brown University on Sunday, February 13. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m.
