Squash Falls to No. 23 Hamilton College

Clinton, N.Y. - January 22, 2021 - The Mount Holyoke College squash team dropped an 8-1 decision to Hamilton College who is nationally ranked at No. 23 according to the latest College Squash Association (CSA) National Rankings. The Lyons are now 2-3 this season while the Continentals improve to 5-7 with the win. 

Mihiliya Kalahe (Panadura, Sri Lanka) was the lone victor as the senior captured a 3-0 win (11-4, 11-6, 11-6) over Sarah Stonestreet at the top spot. At No. 2, sophomore Xaria Durocher (Boston, Mass.) dropped a 3-0 decision to Eliana Good while senior Giselle Cabrera (Bronx, N.Y.) fell 3-0 to Eleanor Bailey at No. 3.

Senior Melissa Marquez (Waterbury, Conn.) lost in three games to Zoe Reinert at No. 4, while in the fifth slot, junior Elba Barra Montgomery (Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania) fell to Madison Sakheim 3-0. First-year Paige Gershuny (Cape Girardeau, Mo.) dropped a 3-0 decision to Eleanor Struthers at No. 6, while senior Elena Frogameni (Northampton, Mass.) entered at No. 7 fell to Sydney Soloway 3-0. At No. 8, junior Dnyaneshwari Haware (Mumbai, India) lost 3-0 to Eliza Glass.

The Lyons had to default the ninth slot as the Continentals emerged with the 8-1 victory.

Up next, the Mount Holyoke squash team will travel to Geneva, N.Y. to play Dickinson and host William Smith on Sunday, January 23. The match versus Dickinson is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. while the match versus William Smith begins at 3:00 p.m.
