Golf Places 8th at Jack Leaman Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The Mount Holyoke College golf team wrapped up action at the 2019 Jack Leaman Invitational on Sunday, finishing eighth overall. Hosted by Amherst College at the Ledges Golf Course, the Lyons compiled 696 points on the weekend, improving their score by 20 strokes following day two.

Rookie Cortney Qiu paced the Lyons' efforts, shooting an 80 on day two to place 31st overall. It was an eight-stroke improvement over her day one total of 88 (168 total). Junior Susan Lee finished close behind in 32nd, closing out the final round with a score of compiled score of 170 (89-81).

Junior Stephanie Spitzer earned 35th overall after improving by seven strokes on day two. She posted a combined 173 (90-83) on the weekend. Sophomore Lahela Delaney rounded out the Lyons finishers in 48th, shooting a combined 185 (91-94).

Williams College won this year's tournament with a combined 597 (308-289). Wellesley took second overall with a score of 626 (324-302), while New York University was third with a mark of 632 (324-308). The host Mammoths were fourth with a score of 642 (332-310), while Vassar was fifth with a score of 652 (330-322).

Individually, Williams' Cordelia Chan powered back on day two, finishing with a 71 on day two. Combined with a 76 on day one, she earned medalist honors with a score of 147.

Mount Holyoke returns to action on Friday, May 3rd when it travels to Schenectady, N.Y., to compete at the 2019 Liberty League Championship, hosted by Union College at the Mohawk Country Club.
