Golf Sixth After Opening Round of MHC Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Day one of the 2018 MHC Invitational at The Orchards Golf Course has concluded and through the first 18 holes, the Mount Holyoke College golf team is sixth overall. The Lyons are currently tied with Hamilton College, both teams having posted a combined 338 in First Round action. Amherst College leads the 17-team field following the opening round with a 313.

Rookie Cortney Qiu (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs) paced Mount Holyoke in the opening round, posting a score of 80 - good for 13th in the field. Junior Stephanie Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) finished two strokes behind on the day with an 82, which places her 24th overall, while classmate Susan Lee (Irvine, Calif./University HS) was 38th with a score of 85 in the opening round.

Junior Elizabeth Andrian (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) placed 55th on the day with a score of 91, while sophomore Caitlyn Richmond (Northampton, Mass./Northampton) rounded out the team scoring in 63rd with a score of 95.

Individually, sophomore Lahela Delaney (Honolulu, Hawaii/Roosevelt) is 69th overall with a mark of 98.

Overall in the event, Amherst leads with an opening score of 313. Williams College is second with a 316, followed by New York University (317), Middlebury College (322) and Wellesley (327). Individually, Williams' Cordelia Chan, NYU's Patty Treevichaphan and Middlebury's Chloe Levins lead the field, each posting a 75 in the opening round.

Action at the MHC Invitational concludes on Sunday beginning at 9am.
