WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore forward Annika Brooks netted a game-high in points once again, but it wasn't enough as Mount Holyoke shouldered a tough 49-26 loss to WPI in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday afternoon. The win move the Engineers to 7-5 on the season and 2-3 in conference play, while the Lyons are now 0-13 with an 0-5 NEWMAC mark.

WPI's Bailey Savage recorded a game-best 12 points, adding five rebounds, three assists, four steals and two blocks. Spencer Vinson had eight points with six boards and a game-high five blocks, while McKenna Finken also had eight points. Caitlin Boermeester added a game-best five steals with two assists and six points.

For the Lyons, Brooks also had 12 points, while finishing just shy of a double-double with eight rebounds. She also had three steals. Senior forward Leah Hodges turned in six points with three rebounds, two steals and a block, while sophomore forward GraceAnne Woods had four points.

MHC trailed by just nine points after the opening twenty minutes of action, but could not hold off the homestanding Engineers as Finken put up five of her eight points in the frame, while Savage added four points. The Lyons had solid efforts from all their starters in the frame as four of the five posted points to make it 35-20 heading into the fourth.

Brooks went on to lead all players in the frame, knocking down six of her 12 points over the final 10 minutes, but four-point efforts from Savage and Vinson paced WPI on to victory.

Mount Holyoke returns to action on Thursday when it hosts Coast Guard Academy at 7pm at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. WPI is on the court on Tuesday, welcoming Smith for a 7pm match in Worcester.
