Basketball Falls at Springfield in NEWMAC Action

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Three players reached double-figures to lead Springfield College past Mount Holyoke College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) basketball action on Wednesday evening. The Pride moves to 4-3 with a 2-0 conference mark, while the Lyons slip to 0-9 and 0-3 in the NEWMAC.

The Pride were led by Alex Goslin, who recorded a game-best 15 points with four rebounds, five assists and three steals. Emily Jacques added 13 points with seven boards, four assists, a game-high four steals and a block, while Gracie Restituyo chipped in with 12 points and four caroms.

For Mount Holyoke, sophomore Annika Brooks notched a game-best 15 points, just missing the double-double as she laid down a game-high nine rebounds with an assist and two steals. Junior Katlyn Grover and sophomore Raquel Fitzpatrick each added six points.

Springfield held a substantial lead at halftime and continued to build into the third quarter, limiting the Lyons to just two points in the frame. In the fourth quarter, MHC battled back as Brooks poured in 10 points and six boards to lead all players.

Next up for both teams is another round of NEWMAC games as Springfield travels to Wellesley, while the Lyons host Wheaton. Both matches begin at 1pm.
