BOSTON, Mass. - Mount Holyoke College saw two players reach double-figures, but it proved not enough as Simmons University earned a 71-37 non-conference win on Tuesday evening. The win moves the homestanding Sharks to 3-7 overall, while the Lyons are now 0-11 on the season.

Guard Cassandra Stapelfeld paced all players with a game-high 25 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the floor. She also added four rebounds and a game-best five assists with three steals. Molly Phillips added 12 points, while Rebekah Carroll added 10 points, three assists, four boards and three steals. Forward Lauren Brandau had a game-high 12 caroms with an assist, three steals and a game-best four blocks.

Mount Holyoke was paced by sophomore forward Annika Brooks, who had 13 points with five rebounds. Junior guard Katlyn Grover posted 12 points, including four rebounds, a steal and a block, while rookie forward Mikayla McEwen notched a team-best 11 caroms.

Trailing following the first quarter after 12 points in the first 10 from Stapelfeld, the Lyons were able to cut down the lead in the second stanza as Grover went 2-for-3 from the line and a nailed a trey to boast five points and send the team's into the locker room with the score in a 38-17 edge in favor of the Sharks.

Brooks laid down six points in the third quarter for the Lyons, but four players chipped in points, including Francesca Corsinetti, who came off the bench for six points to continue to build up a solid lead for Simmons.

The final 10 minutes of the contest saw Grover nail down five points, but Phillips continued the charge for the Sharks, putting in eight points to seal the victory.

Simmons is now idle until January 4, when it welcomes Eastern Nazarene at 3pm. Mount Holyoke is back in action on January 2 when it travels to Elms for a 6pm match against the Blazers.
