NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - A strong offensive effort behind double-figures from three players helped lead Smith College to victory over Mount Holyoke College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Wednesday. With the victory - a 76-31 decision - the Pioneers move to 18-5 overall and 11-3 in conference play. The Lyons slip to 1-21 and are now 0-13 in the NEWMAC.

Kennedy Guest-Pritchett paced the effort among all players, recording 13 points and finishing just shy of a double-double with eight boards. She also posted two assists with a steal. Stephanie Foukaris added 12 points and nine caroms to also just miss the double, while Dashelle Gleissner had 10 points with six assists and two steals.

For the Lyons, sophomore Annika Brooks posted 10 points, adding eight rebounds. Senior Leah Hodges added nine points and four caroms with two blocks, while sophomore Julia Grey came off the bench to add three points and three boards.

Smith came out firing in the opening quarter, taking a 20-7 lead behind six points from both Guest-Pritchett and Gleissner. Mount Holyoke got four points from Hodges through the second stanza, but eight buckets from Foukaris sent the Pioneers into halftime with a 42-15 advantage.

In the third quarter, Smith's defense was once again on full display as they limited the Lyons to just six points, while banking in 18 of their own. Brooks added four for MHC, while Guest-Pritchett once again led the home team with seven points.

The final 10 minutes saw the Lyons battle back, putting 10 points up on the board, including three from Hodges and two points each from Brooks, Grey and senior captain Zahkeyah Allen. Despite the momentum, the Lyons were unable to cut the deficit as the Pioneers bench recorded 12 of the team's 16 points in the stanza to secure the win.

Both teams are back on the court on Saturday as Mount Holyoke hosts WPI, while Smith travels to MIT. Tip-off for both matches is set for 2pm.
