South Hadley, Mass. - April 27, 2022 - Mount Holyoke College rowing's varsity eight boat and lacrosse's Allie Brown (Burlington, Vt.) have recently been selected as the Lyons of the Week.
The varsity eight is being recognized for their impressive performance on Saturday, April 16, as the Lyons outlasted No. 11 Coast Guard and Division-I Holy Cross. Leading the crew was coxswain Jaya Nagarajan-Swenson (Berkeley, Calif.), who was in a boat with Simran Kaur (Hanover, N.H.), Emma Waldron (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Bea Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.), Jocelyn Greer (Athens, N.Y.), Piper LaPointe (Norfolk, Mass.), Lilla Carroll (Birmingham, Ala.), Jill Slatch (Gansevoort, N.Y.) and Ellie Mohn (Exeter, Conn). This boat turned in a time of 8:15.1 to claim victory, as Coast Guard turned in a time of 8:18.13 and Holy Cross crossed in 8:41.03.
Brown is being recognized for her impressive individual performances against both Coast Guard Academy and Wellesley College this past week. In two games, Brown collected eight points on six goals and two assists, while also adding 11 draw controls, seven ground balls and five caused turnovers for the Lyons. Brown currently leads Mount Holyoke with an impressive 39 points on 31 goals and eight assists.
