South Hadley, Mass. - November 3, 2021 - Wrapping up the fall season at Mount Holyoke College, three student-athletes earned Lyon of the Week honors for their efforts over the past few weeks.
Senior Sierra Dunn (Florence, Mass.) of the riding team is being recognized for her impressive performance at the Williams Show on Saturday, October 16, Kass Lawrence (Holyoke, Mass.) of the field hockey team is being recognized for her impressive play during the week of October 18 and Shannon Breen (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) is being recognized for a pair of impressive performances in the final week of October.
Dunn, a senior and manager on the varsity hunt seat team at Mount Holyoke College, helped lead the Lyons to a High Point College Title at the Williams Show on October 16. After some great performances throughout the day, Dunn was called back to the ring for additional testing for the High Point Rider award. She had an amazing ride to end up earning the overall High Point Rider title. Dunn was also named High Point Intermediate Rider for the day at the Williams Show.
Lawrence, a senior forward for the field hockey team at Mount Holyoke, helped the Lyons to a convincing 5-2 win over Springfield College as the Economics major registered four goals in the victory. Lawrence became just the eighth student-athlete in Mount Holyoke College field hockey program history to record a four-goal game, leading the Lyons to their third win of the year.
Breen, a sophomore goalkeeper for the soccer team, had a fantastic performance to close out the 2021 season as the Psychology major notched a career-best 16 saves in a scoreless draw with Wellesley on Saturday, October 30. Breen recorded 146 saves in the 2021 season which was ranked No. 1 in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) and No. 19 in all of Division III.
