South Hadley, Mass. - September 28, 2021 - After impressive performances over the past two weeks, Lauren Selkin (Greenwich, Conn.) of the Mount Holyoke College cross country team and Hannah Keochakian (Amherst, Mass.) of the soccer team have been selected as the Lyons of the Week.
Selkin, who is being recognized for her performance at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, has been impressive during the 2021 season as the two-time NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week has posted three-consecutive top-five finishes to begin the year. At the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on September 18, Selkin produced a 49-second personal best with a mark of 17:41.2, averaging 5:41 per mile, en route to a second-place finish among 234 student-athletes competing.
Keochakian, a first-year forward for the Mount Holyoke College soccer team, is being recognized for her two-goal performance in a 3-0 victory over Mitchell College on Tuesday, September 21. Keochakian, who scored both goals in the second half, found the back of the net just 1:29 into the second half before adding her third goal of the season with 19:44 left to seal the victory.
