South Hadley, Mass - April 12, 2022 - Mount Holyoke College's Annissa Aamoum (Dulles, Va.), Annika Chai (London, England) and Sara Hearn (Tallahassee, Fla.) have all been selected as Lyons of the Week for their tremendous efforts over the past two weeks.
Aamoum and Chai, both members of the Mount Holyoke College tennis team, have been a strong point for the Lyons during the 2022 spring season. Aamoum and Chai teamed up at No. 1 doubles to defeat Wheaton's Miriam Galindo Cerrada and Mareike Mueller, 8-4, before Chai defeated Galindo Cerrada at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-3, and Aamoum topped Katie Steinberg 7-6 (3), 6-1 at No. 3 singles in the same match. Aamoum and Chai's play led Mount Holyoke to a critical 6-3 win in NEWMAC play.
Hearn, a senior on the Mount Holyoke College riding team, was tremendous this past weekend and was named the Zone I Cacchione Cup Champion at the Zone 1 Championships on Saturday. Hearn won five of her classes during the show and helped the Lyons return to the IHSA National Championships as a team for the first time since 2018. In addition to being a team qualifier, Hearn also qualified for Nationals as an individual and will be competing in the Open Flat, Fences, and Cacchione Cup.
