WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Action at the 2014 USTA/ITA New England Regional Tennis Tournament got underway at Williams College on Friday and two members of the Mount Holyoke College squad were competing. Junior captain Margaux Holloschutz and first year Ishita Tibrewal took to the court for both doubles and singles action for the Lyons.
Holloschutz and Tibrewel, MHC's first doubles pairing, competed in the opening round against Williams' Julia Cancio and Juli Raventos. The Ephs pair, which was ranked third in the overall seeding, handed the Lyons' duo an 8-1 defeat.
The pair then split for singles action. Tibrewal faced off against Cancio once again, but was unable to get the win, falling by a 6-1, 6-0 margin. Holloschutz squared off against Bowdoin's Samantha Stadler. Trailing after a 6-0 loss in the opening set, the MHC captain battled back for a 6-3 win in the second frame. But Stadler pushed it to the brink in the third, grabbing a 10-6 win for the 6-0, 3-6, 10-6 victory.
