INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Mount Holyoke College sophomore Cathleen Pruden continued to etch her name into the history books on Thursday evening, earning National All-America honors after finishing fourth in the 400-individual medley at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. Pruden becomes the first swimmer in MHC history to finish in the top eight and the second swimmer to earn All-America honors.

Pruden (Raleigh, N.C./Ravenscroft School) came on strong in the freestyle leg of tonight's 400-IM to secure fourth with a school record time of 4:22.84. That time eclipses the record mark she set in this morning's prelims, which was 4:24.21. Additionally, her time was also a NEWMAC Open Record, overtaking her own mark of 4:25.03, which she set at this year's NEWMAC Championships.

Pruden joins Katie Herrold '00 as the only other Mount Holyoke College swimmer to garner All-America honors. Herrold represented the Lyons in 1997, earning All-America Honorable Mention in the 1650-freestyle.

Tonight's race was the second of three races at this year's Nationals for Pruden, who finished 21st overall in the 200-IM on Wednesday. Though she did not make it to the finals, Pruden recorded a lifetime best mark of 2:06.98.

Pruden's final swim at NCAA's will come on Saturday as she competes in the 1650-freestyle. Preliminaries begin at 10am with the finals beginning at 6pm.
