WORCESTER, Mass. - The first full day of action at the NEWMAC Championships has concluded and through 13 events, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team is seventh overall. Three school records have fallen, including marks in two different relay events. Pacing the way was sophomore Cathleen Pruden, who has contributed to three of the records.

Pruden finished third overall in the 500-freestyle, posting a time of 5:04.29. That mark eclipsed her own record set earlier this year of 5:05-97. She then helped the 400-medley relay team to sixth overall in a school record time of 4:01.50.

That mark bested the 2013 record of 4:04.06. In addition to Pruden, who swam anchor, the relay was comprised of the same swimmers from last year's record including senior Lauren Williams, junior Maya Lazarovich and sophomore Bethany Aban.

Also posting a school record was the 800-freestyle relay of Pruden, Lazarovich, sophomore Erica Carvell and first year Emily Craig. The foursome achieved a time of 7:56.08, which bested the previous record of 7:57.34.

Also finishing well on day one was the 200-free relay team of Craig, Aban, Williams and first year Katie Tyler. The group was fifth overall with a time of 1:39.34.

Action at this year's meet continues on Saturday with the morning session beginning at 10am. Finals will begin at 6pm. The final day of competition will begin on Sunday.
