Davis wins as squash falls to Wesleyan, Brown

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The Mount Holyoke College squash team played two matches at Wesleyan University for the second day in a row Saturday, falling 9-0 to the host Cardinals in the morning and then taking a 7-2 loss against Brown University Saturday evening.

Senior captain Elba Barra Montgomery (Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania) was cited by head coach Erin Robson for her strong play against Wesleyan's Laila Kewalramani, an 11-2, 11-3, 11-6 loss at the No. 6 position. Also competitive for Mount Holyoke were first-year Habiba Abouelatta (Alexandria, Egypt) at No. 1 and junior Xaria Durocher (Boston, Mass.) at No. 2.

Senior captain Janiqua Davis (New Haven, Conn.) finished a 2-2 weekend individually with an 11-5, 8-11, 11-5, 11-0 victory over Brown's Sasha Floru, scoring a team point for the Lyons. Mount Holyoke also won by default at the No. 9 position.

Mount Holyoke (3-5) will travel to Maine this week to play at Bates on Tuesday at 5pm, at Bowdoin on Wednesday at 12pm and at Colby on Wednesday at 6pm.
