NORTON, Mass. -- Mount Holyoke College scored on its first shot and final shot of the game but was held scoreless in between, as host Wheaton College defeated the Lyons 20-2 in a NEWMAC women's lacrosse game Saturday.

Brooke Harvey tallied a game-high six points for Wheaton (8-6, 3-3 NEWMAC), which held Mount Holyoke to five or fewer shots in every quarter, while outshooting the visiting Lyons 33-14 for the match. Wheaton owned a 16-8 advantage in draw controls, including 10-2 in the opening quarter.

First-year Emi Bisson (Chester, Conn.) gave Mount Holyoke (3-9, 0-6 NEWMAC) a 1-0 lead in the second minute of the game, with an assist from junior captain Hannah Bisson (South Hadley, Mass.).

Emi Bisson also assisted on Mount Holyoke's other goal, scored by first-year Elle Mader (Cincinnati, Ohio) with 4:35 to go in the fourth quarter. The goal was the only one scored by either team in the quarter.

Erin Ortega answered Emi Bisson's game-opening goal with a score of her own, just 22 seconds after the ensuing draw. Wheaton took the lead at 2-1 with 11:48 to go on Lara Finnie's unassisted goal, and the host Lyons proceeded to pile up 11 goals before the end of the quarter, instigating a continuously running game clock with 36 seconds left in the quarter on Abigail Mountain's score.

Emi Bisson also won four draws to go with a ground ball, and first-year Taylor Dunn (San Francisco, Calif.) collected a game-high three ground balls. Sophomore goalie Emma Tower (Dover, N.H.) posted eight saves for Mount Holyoke.

Mount Holyoke next plays Wednesday night at 7pm for a NEWMAC game at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
