Lacrosse falls 15-4 at Emerson

BOSTON -- Emerson College ran out to an 8-0 lead en route to a 15-4 NEWMAC victory over the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team on Saturday at Rotch Field, despite a hat trick from Lyons first-year Emi Bisson.

Lauren Longstreet scored six goals for Emerson (3-4, 1-1 NEWMAC) while Ava Selby and Grace Danehy added three apiece.

Emi Bisson (Chester, Conn.), who entered the game as the NEWMAC leader in goals and points per game, broke Emerson's game-opening run of eight straight goals with back-to-back scores to finish out the second quarter scoring. She added a third score on a free-position shot to bring the Lyons within five goals (9-4) of the Lions with 5:57 to go in the third quarter. Bisson also had four ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers in the game.

Junior Hannah Bisson (South Hadley, Mass.) had an unassisted goal with 8:28 to go in the third period for the Lyons.

Sophomore Ella Phillips (Sandwich, Mass.) and first-year Taylor Dunn (San Francisco, Calif.) had five ground balls apiece for Mount Holyoke, with Dunn causing two turnovers and Phillips causing one. First-year Amelia Knaysi (Grand Junction, Colo.) caused three turnovers to go with four ground balls and three draw controls.

Emerson had a 13-10 advantage in draw controls and a 33-25 edge in shots attempted. Mount Holyoke sophomore goalie Emma Tower (Dover, N.H.) made eight saves while Nina Khosla stopped 15 shots for Emerson.

The Lyons next play Fitchburg State University in a non-conference game at home on Wednesday, March 29 at 6pm.
