GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Junior Hannah Bisson netted a career-high five goals as the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team fell 19-9 to the Sewanee Tigers on Monday afternoon, in the first of two games the Lyons are playing at Southwestern University on their spring break trip this week.

Hannah Bisson (South Hadley, Mass.) also had five ground balls and a caused turnover in a career-best performance for the captain. First-year Emi Bisson (Chester, Conn.) added two goals an assist, two caused turnovers, four draw controls and three ground balls for the Lyons (1-2).

Casey Thomsen led Sewanee (4-3) with five goals and one assist, while Bissy Muller and Emma Burns added three goals apiece.

Mount Holyoke sophomore Emma Tower (Dover, N.H.) made a career-high 26 saves in the loss, helping the Lyons somewhat offset a 63-24 advantage for Sewanee on shots attempted and a 45-19 edge in shots on goal.

The Tigers also had a 45-23 advantage in ground balls and held Mount Holyoke to an 8-for-28 success rate on clears, while they were successful on 16-of-19.

Hannah Bisson scored on a free-position shot 89 seconds into the game to give Mount Holyoke the first score for the third time in as many games this season. After Burns potted Sewanee's first goal, first-year Amelia Knaysi (Grand Junction, Colo.) returned the lead to the Lyons on an assist from sophomore captain Ella Phillips (Sandwich, Mass.).

Dominating possession, Sewanee scored the next three goals for a 4-2 lead that the Tigers never relinquished, though the Lyons shrunk the Tigers' lead to one goal two more times in the second quarter: a free-position shot by Emi Bisson that made it 4-3, and then an exceptional play made by Hannah Bisson, who intercepted an outlet pass from Sewanee goalie Lilly Jordan and flicked in her second goal of the game on the defenseless keeper.

Muller and Marlin Price scored back-to-back goals for Sewanee for a 7-4 lead, but another opportunistic play by Hannah Bisson made it a two-goal game at the half, as she got to a loose ball near the Tigers net and scored again for her first hat trick.

Hannah Bisson added an unassisted goal in the third quarter to close the gap to 9-6, and scored her fifth goal shortly after the start of the fourth quarter, on an assist from her fellow Bisson, Emi. But Sewanee outscored Mount Holyoke 7-1 in the third quarter, including a 5-0 run in the last 5:17 of the period, for a commanding lead going into the final period.

Sophomore captain Madison Millyan (Winchester, Mass.) added an unassisted goal with 4:56 remaining in the game, her fourth score of the season.

Mount Holyoke will face North Central (Ill.) College on the same field Wednesday at 12pm Central Time.
