Han and Konkel Lift Tennis to Convincing Win Over Connecticut College

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (March 31, 2012) – Junior Nahrhee Han and sophomore AnnElizabeth Konkel prevailed at both singles and doubles, as the Mount Holyoke College tennis team rolled to a 7-2 triumph over Connecticut College today at the Kendall Sports and Dance Complex Tennis Courts.

After teaming up for a thrilling 9-8 victory at number one doubles, both players won their respective singles matches in straight sets to seal things for the hosts. Han came up with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Sara Krivoshik at the top of the lineup. Meanwhile, Konkel topped Brittany Badik 7-5, 6-1 at the fourth slot.

The Lyons took two of the three doubles matches to gain control in the early going. Their second point came from senior Sarah Moore and first year Jenni Lee, who raced to an 8-4 win in their number three contest against Maddie Swanson and Monica Rohrbach.

Mount Holyoke quickly added to its lead with a pair of singles wins from sophomore Eman Malik and senior Heather Richardson. Malik dropped just two games in her number five win over Swanson. Meanwhile, Richardson came up with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Rohrbach at the bottom of the ladder.

From there, Han clinched the match, and Konkel extended the cushion to 6-1. Mount Holyoke's final point came from first year Sarah Anischik, who split the first two sets of her number three match against Brittney Cangemi before winning 10-8 in a third set super tiebreaker.

The Camels' (3-6, 0-0 NESCAC) lone singles win came from Jen Herbert.

Mount Holyoke (5-8, 3-4 NEWMAC) is scheduled to host the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
