THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke hosts non-conference foe Connecticut College Saturday (10:30 a.m.) at the Kendall Sports and Dance Complex Tennis Courts. The Lyons have dropped two straight contests to the Camels after earning a 5-4 triumph in the fall of 2008. Last year, they took two of the three doubles matches before falling by a score of 7-2. Sarah Moore and AnnElizabeth Konkel both figured in on wins for the visitors.
THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (4-8, 3-4 NEWMAC) advanced to the NEWMAC Tournament for the eighth season in a row, falling 5-1 to Wheaton College in the Quarterfinals. Over the course of the fall, the Lyons earned victories over St. Joseph College, Smith College, Clark University and Springfield College. They were paced by Kelsey Brower and Heather Richardson, who went 7-3 at number three doubles. Nahrhee Han and AnnElizabeth Konkel split 10 matches at number one doubles, while Sarah Anischik and Maya Sayarath earned a pair of wins at number two doubles. In singles play, Konkel racked up six victories, and Sayarath added five. Mount Holyoke was blanked 9-0 by Bates College in its spring opener earlier this month.
THE CAMELS: Connecticut College (3-5, 0-0 NESCAC) has split its last six matches after opening with a pair of shutout losses to Division I opponents. The Camels own victories over Richard Stockton College (9-0), Edgewood College (8-1) and Millersville University (7-2). Their projected singles lineup includes Sara Krivoshik, Jen Herbert, Maria Pia Sifuentes, Brittney Cangemi, Brittany Badik and Maddie Swanson. On the doubles side, the expected pairings are Sifuentes and Herbert, Cangemi and Badik and Swanson and Krivoshik.
NEXT UP: Connecticut College will stay remain in South Hadley to face off against Smith College Saturday afternoon at 3:00. Meanwhile, Mount Holyoke is scheduled to host the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
