Cross country places 14th at NCAA Mideast Regional Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College cross country team ended its 2023 season by taking 14th place at the NCAA Mideast Region Championships, led by four runners who placed among the top 100 individuals from 31 teams.

The highly competitive Mideast Regional, featuring seven nationally ranked teams, was won by Williams (61), followed by Amherst (109), Connecticut College (125), St. Lawrence (129), and Middlebury (137) to round out the top five. Mount Holyoke's 439 points put the Lyons 23 behind 13th-place Salve Regina and four ahead of 15th-place SUNY Plattsburgh.

Junior Tessa Lancaster (Mansfield, Mass.), junior Kim Beaver (Agawam, Mass.), junior Greta Trapp (La Crosse, Wis.), and senior Bridget Hall (Arlington, Mass.) finished 77th (23:25.1), 88th (23:46.0), 90th (23:48.4), and 91st (23:49.2), respectively, out of a field of 176 runners.

Junior Olivia Johnson (Mount Desert, Maine) rounded out the Lyons' team scoring in 112th place overall (24:45.6), while sophomore Katie Earle (East Kingston, N.H.) and first-year Anita Konopka (Rolling Meadows, Ill.) were the team's scoring displacers in 116th (24:51.0) and 133rd (25:26.8), respectively.

Mount Holyoke's indoor track and field team has its first meet Dec. 2 at Smith College's Mary Grinaker Invitational.
