Westfield, Mass. - October 12, 2019 - The Mount Holyoke College cross country team had student-athletes compete at both the James Earley Invitational, hosted by Westfield State, and the NEICAAA Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. on Saturday.

At the James Earley Invitational, the Lyons took ninth overall with a total of 267 points. 

Leading the pack was Sarah Hyde (Arlington, Mass.), who posted a time of 19:54.48, just ahead of Meryl Phair (Stockbridge, Mass.), who crossed the finish line in 20:13.43. Next was Katie Milligan (Scituate, Mass.) with a time of 20:19.21, while Devan Ravino (West Kingston, R.I.), who ran a time of 20:24.22 and Emma Raney (Palo Alto, Calif.), who ran a time of 20:35.31 rounded out the top five.

Sophomore Amanda Kearney (Teaneck, N.J.) posted a time of 20:42.58, while Kayla Dillon (Great Barrington, Mass.) crossed in 20:44.52. Sophia Gronbeck (Westfield, Mass.) also produced a time of 20:48.65.

In the JV race at the James Earley Invitational, Sophia Anderson (Morrisville, Vt.) was the Lyons' top performer with a time of 20:37.94 to finish fourth overall, while Natalie Rodman (Upton, Mass.) followed suit with a time of 21:42.39. Charlotte Lindblom (Takoma Park, Md.) and Marlena Klein (South Windsor, Conn.) finished with times of 22:02.62 and 22:04.95, respectively, while Sammi Craig (Austin, Texas) was next with a mark of 22:11.72. Michelle Serrano (Los Angeles, Calif.) notched a time of 22:25.85. 

At the NEICAAA Championships, Madeline Rieders (Wellesley, Mass.) was Mount Holyoke College's top runner with a time of 18:39.7, while Hannah Rieders (Wellesley, Mass.) was just behind with a time of 18:40.0. Olivia Griesmer (Austin, Texas) was next with a time of 19:19.5, just ahead of Simone Jacob (San Francisco, Calif.), who turned in a time of 20:18.

There were a number of student-athletes that had impressive performances for the Lyons on Saturday, as Anderson, Dillon, Hyde, Kearney, Lindblom, Milligan, Raney and Ravino all had personal-best times, while Craig, Griesmer, Gronbeck, Klein, Phair, Rodman and Serrano had season-best performances.

At Franklin Park, Jacob, Hannah Rieders and Madeline Rieders all had course-best times.

Up next, Mount Holyoke College will compete at the Western New England Invitational, beginning at 10 a.m.
