2011-12 Indoor Track and Field Year in Review
June 27, 2012With longtime head coach Tina Lee at the helm, the Mount Holyoke indoor track and field team competed in seven events during the 2011-12 season. Leading the way for the Lyons were Jacinta Edebeli, Miriam Larson-Koester and Naomi Miller, who each qualified for the New England Division III Championships. -

Miriam Larson-Koester set the tone for the team with her outstanding production in the throwing events. After an impressive regular season, the senior turned in a dominant performance at the NEWMAC Championships.

Larson-Koester Takes Home Fifth Place at ECAC Championships
May 18, 2012Miriam Larson-Koester put the finishing touches on her outstanding career with a fifth place performance in the discus this afternoon at the ECAC Division III Championships. With her toss of 40.34 meters, the senior earned All-ECAC honors and put Mount Holyoke in 42nd place overall with four points.

NEWMAC Announces Spring Academic All-Conference Squads
May 16, 2012The NEWMAC recently announced its 2012 Spring Academic All-Conference Teams. Nineteen Mount Holyoke student-athletes were recognized for their achievements in their respective sports as well as in the classroom. Academic All-Conference Teams were selected for the sports of track and field, lacrosse an crew.

May 12, 2012Miriam Larson-Koester turned in yet another impressive performance in the discus this afternoon at the New England Championships. The senior earned All-New England honors with her sixth place toss of 42.06 meters. In the process, she shattered her own school record.

May 05, 2012Senior Miriam Larson-Koester continued her outstanding spring with another strong performance in the discus at the New England Division III Championships this weekend. As a result of her fifth place toss of 38.47 meters, she earned All-Region honors for the third time in her career.

April 28, 2012Senior Miriam Larson-Koester continued her outstanding spring with a dominant performance at the NEWMAC Track and Field Championships today. The veteran was at her best in the discus, where she took home top honors with a toss of 40.38 meters. In the process, she established a new meet record and earned First Team All-Conference honors.

Larson-Koester Leads Outdoor Track and Field at Aloha Relays
April 21, 2012A total of five Lyons earned points this weekend at Bowdoin’s Aloha Relays. Senior Miriam Larson-Koester set the tone with her outstanding results in the throwing events. In addition to taking home first place in the discus (41.62 meters), she also turned in a fifth place performance in the shot put (10.99 meters).

Algama Claims Lyon of the Week Honors
April 17, 2012First year Meara Algama has earned the Lyon of the Week award for the week of April 9-15 after an impressive performance at the Eastern Connecticut State Invitational on Friday. The rookie took home first place in the javelin with a toss of 30.37 meters.

Outdoor Track and Field Takes Part in Eastern Connecticut Invitational
April 13, 2012Mount Holyoke took part in the fifth annual Eastern Connecticut Invitational this afternoon along with Trinity and Mahattanville. First year Meara Algama set the tone for the Lyons with her first place toss of 30.37 meters in the javelin. Meanwhile, sophomore Kathleen O’Connor won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:16.99.

April 07, 2012Mount Holyoke took part in the non-scoring Swanson Invitational at Wesleyan today. Senior Miriam Larson-Koester set the tone for the Lyons with her outstanding production in the throwing events. She grabbed first place in the discus, making her eligible for the New England Championships.

April 03, 2012Senior Miriam Larson-Koester has earned the Lyon of the Week award for the week of March 26 - April 1 after leading the outdoor track and field team to a seventh place finish at the Coast Guard Invitational over the weekend. She took home top honors in the discus with a toss of 36.53 meters.

In addition to recording a first place toss of 36.53 in the discus, the senior also grabbed third place in the shot put (10.71 meters) and seventh place in the hammer throw (33.97).

March 24, 2012Mount Holyoke kicked off its 2012 slate at with a seventh place showing at the Jerry Gravel Classic today. Senior Miriam Larson-Koester took second place in the discus and fourth place in the shot put to set the tone for the Lyons. Classmate Felicia Cordeiro established a new school record in the steeplechase.

January 21, 2012Mount Holyoke returned to action at the Springfield Invitational this afternoon. Senior Jacinta Edebeli set the tone with her outstanding all-around results. Edebeli got the Lyons on the board with her fourth place toss of 10.91 meters in the shot put. The captain also grabbed eighth place in the 200-meter dash with her time of 28.18.

December 03, 2011Led by senior Jacinta Edebeli, Mount Holyoke kicked off its 2011-12 slate at the non-scoring Smith Winter Classic today. Edebeli was at her best in the 200-meter dash, where she grabbed third place with a time of 27.93. She also qualified for New England Division III Championships in both the shot put and the 60-meter dash.

Indoor Track and Field Set to Open 2011-12 Season
December 02, 2011The Mount Holyoke indoor track and field team is slated to kick off its 2011-12 season at the Smith Winter Classic tomorrow. Longtime head coach Tina Lee will once again look to veterans Jacinta Edebeli, Miriam Larson-Koester and Maddie Ballon to lead the way for the Lyons, who are scheduled for nine meets this winter.
