SOUTH HADLEY, MASS. – The Mount Holyoke College tennis team was outlasted 5-4 by Connecticut College on Saturday. The Lyons are now 10-6, while the Camels improve to 5-2 with the win.

In doubles, Connecticut College won their first point, but sophomore Ayame Yazawa (Tokyo, Japan/St. Johnsbury Academy (Vt.))and first year Ching-Ching Huang (Lukang Township, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal First Girls') knotted the score with an 8-3 victory at the #1 doubles match. Senior captain Amy Chen (Hilo, Hawaii/Hilo) and sophomore Clara Wang (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) followed with an 8-6 victory to give the Lyons a 2-1 advantage.

In singles action, senior Susanna Studwell (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino) evened the match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory from the six spot, while sophomore Emily Migliorini (North Haven, Conn./North Haven) took the lead back with a 6-0, 6-4 victory at the two.

At the five spot, Chen picked up a 7-5, 6-3 victory to make it her seventh win in a row, and tied the match once again at 3-3. After an MHC loss at the three, first year Catherine Peabody (San Francisco, Calif./Lick-Wilmerding HS) made it 4-4 with a 7-5, 6-3 victory at the four spot.

With the match on the line, the Camels picked up the first set at the top of the flights. Yazawa battled back in the second set to tie the match, 1-1. Despite a competitive effort in the final game, Connecticut College took the victory and match.

Mount Holyoke will be back at home next Saturday hosting the Seven Sisters Championships, beginning with Bryn Mawr College at 9:30am. The Camels are back in action today against Smith College at 3:00pm.
