Golf Wraps Up Fall Slate at Wellesley

Golf WELLESLEY, Mass. (Oct. 17, 2010) – The Mount Holyoke College women's golf team wrapped up its 2010-11 fall slate with a fifth place showing at the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational this weekend. A total of six squads took part in the tournament, which was hosted by Wellesley College at Nehoiden Golf Course (par 72 - 5,860 yards).

Mount Holyoke was once again paced by junior Alexandra Irish, who grabbed ninth place with a two day score of 169 (84, 85). Senior Sarah Keating collected 13th place with a tally of 173 (90, 83). Meanwhile, sophomore Felicitas Gerlach rounded things out with a 23rd place (191 – 100, 91) performance.

Williams College took home top honors with a score of 626. The Ephs were followed by Amherst College (670), Wellesley (678), Vassar College (696), Mount Holyoke (722) and Westfield State University (839) in the final team standings.

Alexandra Groetsema of Williams cruised to medalist honors with two day tally of 145 (72, 73). She was just one shot over par. Wellesley's Kimberly Eaton took second place (155 – 80, 75), while Amherst's Elizabeth Monty (157 – 81, 76) grabbed third. A total of 35 individuals took part in the event.

The Lyons will resume play during the spring semester.
