Rowing races Bryant, Assumption, Mass Maritime on Lake Quinsigamond

SHREWSBURY, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College rowing team braved challenging conditions in racing Bryant University, Assumption University and Massachusetts Maritime Academy Saturday morning on Lake Quinsigamond.

Racing into a 12 mph sustained head wind with 18 mph gusts, the Lyons' 1V8 and 2V8, coxswained by senior Miranda Hull (Baltimore, Md.) and first-year Charlotte Hamilton (Ithaca, N.Y.), respectively, both took on Bryant University, with Bryant defeating the Lyons 1V8 by a margin of 8:04.20 to 8:13.60. The 2V8 finished the 2,000-meter course third in 8:32.99.

In a subsequent varsity four race, Mount Holyoke (10:04.42), coxed by Hull, trailed Bryant (9:06.20), Assumption (9:21.44), and Mass Maritime (9:54.14).

Mount Holyoke returns to Quinsigamond to race at Clark University next Saturday, April 12.
