SHREWSBURY, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College rowing team competed in its first regatta of the 2024-25 academic year on Saturday, fielding two eights at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta.
The large regatta featured nine schools and 26 boats in the Women's Collegiate Eights division, including MIT, Holy Cross, WPI, Smith, Rhode Island, Colby, Middlebury, and Vermont.
Mount Holyoke's first varsity eight, coxed by senior Jen Butler (Knoxville, Tenn.), finished the course in 17:44.058, 16th-fastest among 26 boats. The Lyons' 2V8, coxed by senior Miranda Hull (Baltimore, Md.), finished in 18:49.889, 25th-fastest in the field.
The Lyons will race at the Head of the Charles on Sunday, Oct. 20 in Boston.
