Boston, Mass. - March 1, 2020 - The Mount Holyoke College rowing team had student-athletes compete at the C.R.A.S.H.-B Erg Sprints in the Boston University Track and Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.

"C.R.A.S.H.-B's is a nice way for us to practice executing a race plan in a race environment," commented head Mount Holyoke College rowing coach Seth Hussey. "Being so early in our spring season, the times represent only 80 or 8 percent of what our speed will be in a couple months. Still, the race experience is invaluable."

Beginning in the women under 23 section, Elizabeth Hazen (Brookline, Mass.) was the Lyons' top performer, finishing in 7:36.0, just ahead of Casey Roepke (Burlingame, Calif.), who clocked in at 8:06.3. Halee Mahoney (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and Molly Aslin (Germantown, Tenn.) were next as Mahoney produced a time of 8:21.7, followed by Aslin's time of 8:36.9.

"We were excited to get some competition in and see how far we've come this winter," said Aslin. "It's good to practice in a racing environment and the energy of the competition just added to our excitement for our upcoming spring season."

In the senior women open section, Mount Holyoke College's Hannah LeBlanc (Portland, Ore.) had an impressive day, posting a time of 7:43.7 which was good for 11th overall.

Mount Holyoke College will now prepare for its first race of the 2020 season on Saturday, March 28 when the Lyons take on Smith and Amherst.
