Rowing Tabbed 14th in 2020 USRowing/CRCA Preseason Coaches Poll

South Hadley, Mass. - February 28, 2020 - Following an impressive fall season, the Mount Holyoke College rowing team was slotted at No. 14 in the 2020 USRowing/CRCA Division III Preseason Coaches Poll, which was announced on Wednesday.

This marks the highest ranking in the USRowing/CRCA Preseason Coaches Poll for Mount Holyoke College since 2012, when the Lyons were selected 10th prior to the season.

"We don't put a lot of stock into preseason polls, but I think the ranking is indicative of a good spring in 2019, plus a lot of hard work this past fall," commented head Mount Holyoke College rowing coach Seth Hussey. "We were able to put in several solid race results throughout October, culminating in a really good piece from the top eight at the Head of the Charles. The CRCA is a team poll and it's certainly a team effort to climb in the ranks. We'll line up head-to-head with just about every other ranked team over the next three months, which will be a true measure of where we are as we push toward our team goals for 2020 and beyond."

The Lyons had an impressive fall season, which was proven at the Head of the Charles Regatta® when Mount Holyoke College had its best team finish since the 2011 season when the varsity eight took 14th overall in the race.

Mount Holyoke College will open the 2020 spring season on Sunday, March 1 when they head to the Boston University Track and Tennis Center for the C.R.A.S.H.-B ERG sprints, before hitting the water for the first time on Saturday, March 28 with a race against local foes Smith College and Amherst College.
