THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (4-8, 3-4 NEWMAC) finished up the fall portion of its schedule with an overall record of 3-7. The Lyons went 3-4 in league play and qualified for the NEWMAC Tournament for the seventh straight season. They faced off against Babson College in the Quarterfinal Round, falling 5-1. Their number three doubles tandem of Elise Marifian and Maya Sayarath were named to the NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team after sprinting to a 5-1 mark in league matches. In addition to their success as a doubles team, both players were outstanding on the singles side of things. Marifian posted three dual match victories, while Sayarath racked up seven. Mount Holyoke cruised to a 9-0 triumph over American International College last week.
THE ENGINEERS: RPI (7-2, 0-0 LL) has rolled to five straight wins after splitting its first four matches of the season. Over the course of the year, the Engineers have defeated SUNY Plattsburgh (6-3), Hartwick College (5-3), Union College (7-2), Heidelberg University (9-0), Spring Arbor University (5-4), Texas Lutheran University (9-0) and Nazareth College (6-3). Christina Ciamarra has posted four singles victories to lead the way. RPI has also received solid production from its number one doubles due of Jessica Sitzer and Emily Broadbent, who have amassed three wins. Ciamarra has joined forces with Jeanette Carillo to record three wins at the number three doubles slot.
NEXT UP: Mount Holyoke will return to action on Wednesday, when it visits Wesleyan University at 4:30 p.m. After travelling to Smith College later this afternoon, RPI will host Springfield College on Sunday, April 17 at 10:30 a.m.
