THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (3-8, 3-4 NEWMAC) finished up the fall portion of its schedule with an overall record of 3-7. The Lyons went 3-4 in league play and qualified for the NEWMAC Tournament for the seventh straight season. They faced off against Babson College in the Quarterfinal Round, falling 5-1. Their number three doubles tandem of Elise Marifian and Maya Sayarath were named to the NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team after sprinting to a 5-1 mark in league matches. In addition to their success as a doubles team, both players were outstanding on the singles side of things. Marifian posted three dual match victories, while Sayarath racked up seven. Mount Holyoke suffered a 7-2 setback in the spring opener at Bates College earlier this month.

THE YELLOW JACKETS: American International (0-1, 0-0 NE10) kicked off its season with a 9-0 loss to the College of Saint Rose on Saturday at Smith College. The Yellow Jackets have dropped 31 straight matches, dating back to the April 11, 2008, when they topped Franklin Pierce University 6-3. From top to bottom, their projected singles lineup features Angie Rassias, Amanda McLean, Jamie Roy, Martine Turgeon, Edna Olowo and Talia de Souza. All six players are also expected to play doubles.   

NEXT UP: Mount Holyoke will return to action on Saturday, April 2, when it entertains RPI at 10:00 a.m. American International is slated to visit the University of New Haven on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
