SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Oct. 18, 2010) – Mount Holyoke College women's tennis team members Elise Marifian and Maya Sayarath have earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Doubles Team of the Week honors for the week of October 11-17.

The duo propelled Mount Holyoke to a thrilling 5-4 triumph over Springfield College on Tuesday. With the win, the Lyons secured a spot in the NEWMAC Tournament for the seventh straight season. After teaming up for a 9-7 victory in their number three doubles match, Sayarath and Marifian each prevailed in their respective singles contests to help clinch things for Mount Holyoke. The duo has posted a 5-1 mark in league play this fall.

In addition to their success as a doubles tandem, both players have been outstanding on the singles side of things. Now in her senior season, Marifian has posted three dual match victories. Meanwhile, Sayarath has racked up seven wins. The first year has fallen just once in league play.

Mount Holyoke (3-6, 3-4 NEWMAC) has earned the fifth seed and will travel to fourth seeded Babson College for a NEWMAC Tournament Quarterfinal match on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. The Lyons fell 7-2 to the Beavers during the regular season.
