Led by eighth-year head coach Sonnie Terrell, the Mount Holyoke College volleyball team posted a 7-16 record during the 2015 campaign. The Lyons went 0-10 in NEWMAC play.
The campaign got off to a solid start as the Lyons went 3-0 to open the season. MHC recorded a 3-1 win over Elms behind a 14-kill effort from senior captain and outside hitter Emma Sweeting before going on to defeat the University of St. Joseph, 3-2. That match saw junior setter Natalie Lyon post 18 digs with 29 assists. A game later, the Lyons grabbed their third win, besting Medgar Evers by a 3-0 score.
The Lyons shouldered a loss to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, but bounced back with a tri-match sweep of Anna Maria and UMass Dartmouth. In the 3-0 win over the AMCats, first year middle hitter Sarah Caggiano recorded nine kills, while in the 3-2 victory over the Corsairs, she boasted 10 kills, two block solo and a block assist.
Mount Holyoke faced a winless stretch following that match against the Corsairs, suffering a number of NEWMAC losses before finally jumping back into the win column with a 3-2 victory over Worcester State in tri-match action at Regis. First year middle hitter Jamesa Allen paced the effort with a match-high 11 kills, adding five block solos and two service aces.
The Lyons shouldered another winless streak, but rebounded with a 3-1 victory at Norwich as Allen recorded a match-best 16 kills to go along with six digs, two service aces, two block solo and two block assist. Mount Holyoke closed out the season winless despite a number of strong efforts.
Individually, Sweeting paced the Lyons in kills, laying down 162 over 20 matches played. She also recorded 171 digs, 24 service aces and 16 blocks. Allen, who was third in the NEWMAC in block solos (36), boasted a team-best 62 blocks in 23 matches, while Lyon had a team-high 506 assists, 30 service aces, also over 23 matches. First year libero Sara Robicheau produced a squad-best 252 digs on the season over 23 matches.
Academically, junior Corina Willner earned a spot on the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference team.
