Coklow Places 5th in 60M Preliminaries; Advances to National Final

GRINNELL, IOWA - Senior captain Camille Coklow shined bright once again on Friday afternoon, competing in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Grinnell College at the Charles Benson Bear '39 Recreation and Athletic Center.

Coklow ran in the opening heat of this afternoon's preliminaries, placing third overall with a mark of 7.63 - which equaled her school record set at last week's ECAC Championships. Following in the conclusion of the other two heats, Coklow sat fifth overall to move on to Saturday's championship final.

This will mark the second straight season that Coklow has advanced to the 60-meter dash finals. In 2015, she earned her first National All-America honor, finishing sixth overall in the event with a time of 7.72.

This is the third appearance at the Indoor Nationals for Coklow, who also went to the meet as a first year, recording multiple school records as a participant in a number of championship meets. One of her top outings came at the New England Division III Championships, where she finished second overall in the 55-meter dash and garnered All-New England honors.

Coklow, who is the school record holder in the 60-meter dash (7.63) and the 100-meter dash (11.93) in the outdoor records, has also participated at the Outdoor National Championships in back-to-back years (2013, 2014 & 2015).

The finals of the 60-meter dash will take place on Saturday at 4:25pm (ET). Fans can watch the event live at http://www.ncaa.com/liveschedule/2016/03/12.
